Default Electrical Anomaly

I have this reoccurring situation with my 03 Tuono and was curious if anyone has experienced anything similar and if so, what was the course of action. From time to time, when I turn on the ignition the tachometer needle flutters and when I hit the starter everything goes dead. I don’t know if it is simply a coincidence, however, it seems this happens regularly after the fuel light is illuminated.

Craig, I have an 05 Tuono, and have the same problem. Checked the ignition switch, wiring, all connections(dry joints ), no luck.
Dealer looked, but did not understand problem. Mine occurs when the starter button is pushed, the motor won't turn and the tacho flickers, and trip and clock zero. All have to be reset. Possible cause appears to be the battery not fully charged, as it happened after a period of no use, and the battery woudn't turn the engine.
Cure; I fitted leads and charge the battery with a trickle charger every two weeks. No problem/hesitation starting, and no more resetting required.

this sure is a weak battery and since you have to charge it all the time check the rectifier! it tends to heat up and die and doesn't charge the battery! I t is not normal to have to charge the battery every two weeks...
