OK so you always hear this about Italian bikes it seems, but I'm being told that not only are parts expensive for these bikes...they can also take a heck of a long time to come in. It kind of sounds like VW used to be with cars LOL.
I've heard that Aprilia has gotten much better with their dealer support and parts availability - however, I had a 2k1 Falco with a warrantied seat cowl that, after 7 months of waiting for its replacement, my dealer took one off of a display bike at a dealer conference and brought it home to give to me as he was tired of waiting for the real part to come in.
