Default 1998 pegaso 650 idle problem

hi, i have a 98 pegaso 650. my problem with it is that the motor shuts off if the idle falls below 2000 rpm. at high idle it works good, no hesitation no problems. all the vacuum hoses are new and seal properly. i have taken it to the mechanic and he cant find anything wrong with it. grant it he isnt an aprilia guru but there is no-one else i trust. any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Hi there, I also have a 2002 Aprillia 650 and have been having a similar problem - taken it to an Aprilia dealership and apart from charging the earth and claimimg initially it was all sorts of problems such as dirty fuel, they have not been able to fix it - will be taking it back for the 3rd time next week.

Hi again - thanks for the advice - in South Africa one has to find out all the available info and then tell the expert what exactly to look at. They might then be able to sort it out - I will let you know what happens on the third attempt.

Default Here's what I did

I just went through a similar problem and a friend of mine did tons to research and came up with a fix. Replace the spark plug cap. Ours had a ton of resistance. He found two of them on EBay for about 2 bucks each. While your replacing your cap, replace the spark plug.

Mine did exactly the same thing, turned out one of the idle jets had fallen out the bottom of the carb creating an air leak. A new idle jet, spring and o ring was ordered and fitted and now it idles as it should.
