Hey Gonzo- I too am starting to research an aftermarket exhaust for my 2011 RSV4 factory. Quite a few systems available. Not sure if I want to go full system or slip-on. Is the price paid for a full system worth the gain? Are the aftermarket headers that much better than what the Aprilia engineers designed? Would a slip-on be a better choice for the weight advantage, exhaust flow, and cost?
Akrapovic, of course, has the factory support. I wish Termignoni would make a system for the Aprilia. I have seen and heard the Austin Racing system...WOW! I saw the Scorpion RP-1 GP slip-on on the internet that has my interest. I am going to wait until the off season to actually do anything. My local dealer also races the RSV4, so I have a great resource there as well.
What have you found in your research? I am very curious.

Hey Mr C
I have also been looking and know a few people that own dealerships. So I have been getting really good prices on everything and am considering the akra evo 2 full. The reason I chose to go with full is because the exhausts for the rsv4 is already so dam expensive you might as well get a full. Another thing is from my experience if your gonna get a slip on it really doesn't do much the headers on a full system are usually alot wider then the stock and increase your exhaust flow drastically so yes for me the gain is totally worth the money. Another thing I do with all my exhausts Is get them wrapped that allows the exhaust to increase flow because it insulates the heat and gasses. But no matter what you decide to go with make sure you get the unlock code for the ecu and get your exhaust mapped for your bike not doing so could result is poor performance and in some cases damage.
I also saw the Austin racing and heard it I think ot sounds amazing however the look doesn't do it for me. I have had good experience with scorpion but I really would like to see termi make an exhaust for this bike if they don't already another company that makes great exhausts is sato and arata. Well I hope the input helps keep me posted oh and if your gonna do the exhaust get a better air filter too I just got my pipercross race filter in the mail yesterday.

Hi Gonzo- Thanks for the brand suggestions. I took a quick look at the exhaust sites. The GP canister from Sato looks great. Arata does not seem to have a system for our bike model. I had never seen the Pipercross filter before, but that looks interesting. Are you installing the block off plates too? I find it difficult sometimes to get specs from r/d of a brand, especially for flow test results, pipe diameter, collector style, etc. Wrapping the pipe is a great old hot rodding trick that still works! Do you wrap the entire length, or partial to increase scavenging effect due to rapid temp drop?
It sound like our taste in appearance may differ. I like the position of the stock pipe, but prefer a bit shorter, and much smaller diameter. I like the clean look of no hanger from the sub-frame (passenger pegs removed). Lastly, the overall canister, mid-pipe angle must follow the bodywork angle. Of course this is personal opinion.

Hey Mr C.
First off sorry for taking so long to reply but i actually read your reply and did some more research. After a long investigation i too am a believer in the austin racing moto gp style exhaust i read several articles on it and compared dyno charts with the akrapovic evo 2 exhaust and to my surprise when set up right the austin racing exhaust can make up to 12hp compared to the akra 6.8 thats a huge difference and the total price for setup and tuning with a power commander and the ecu unlocked is around the same as the akra. i do however have to purchase the carbon can with a carbon fiber end cap because i cant stand the look of the slash cut. how goes your research.? oh and im from california

Hey Gonzo- Have not been on the site in awhile. You get a pipe (full/slip-on) for the bike yet? I am still not able to find something that I really like out there so I am making my on slip-on. I will still need to cough up the dough to get the unlocked ECU.

Hey I haven't been one much either. I haven't purchased an exhaust I found what I want but got caught up building my race/track bike and that soaked up alot of the money I was gonna use on the rsv4 but I did take her to the track and she's amazing haha when I get back to working on the Aprilia I'm gonna go with a pcv a flashed ecu and the Austin racing full gp exhaust with the carbon can.

Gonzo- I got mine out to the track last October (NHIS, Loudon) for a day. Boy do those Italians know how to build a bike! First trackday out on the RSV4, I stayed in the beginner group. Guy on a 1991 Yamaha FJ1100 was kicking my butt around the track. I keep in touch with that guy, and told him just wait till next time. Always on the lookout for a good track bike, something in the 2004-2008 600cc.What do you have for a track bike? I had to do something with the exhaust. Not ready to put a full system on yet, although I will probably go the Austin route as well, but I had to get more AUDIO from that symphony of cylinders. I did modify the butterfly section of the pipe, and just got pipe back from my sheet metal guy. I can't wait to hear it. So why a PC5 on top of the unlocked ECU?

Yeah I took my Aprilia to willow springs and laguna seca and had a blast I rode with b group just to be safe and was spanking everyone. Awesome bike and once that suspension is nice and tuned it feels great gotta get use to driving out of the corners cuz all that torque makes my front end wobble of I give it hell on exit. But I track a 05 cbr1000rr with way too much work done for my own good haha. I have to admit though the k-tech suspension on the cbr feels amazing I might chuck my ohlins on the Aprilia and go with a k-tech set up. Oh and the pcv with the ecu because the ecu flashed unleashes the power of the bike but unless your using the race exhaust from Aprilia/ akrapovic that the map is designed for it's gonna be a little off the pcv jut helps fine tune it. And if your anything like me you wanna squeeze all the performance you can out of it .
